Reflection: The Inner Torment

30 Oct

The longest journey of any person is the journey inward.

Thomas Paine: Quotes
The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection.

My inner torment of reflectiveness is currently back with me. Reflectiveness at whilst i was at college was always high on the agenda and was probably one of my strengths when it came to assessment. Although i do agree that reflection is vital i also see and know the dangers of being overly reflective. Here are my dangers

1) You being too self absorbed, thinking about yourself and your role almost eliminating the thought that God can work through anything.

2) You are only one person coming from a particular view and standpoint.

3) Reflection should lead us somewhere not round and round in circles. It is about moving on and not wallowing in the past.

4) Reflection can actually be procrastination

So with this out of my system i will drag myself away from these things whilst still trying to remain the right level of reflection
