Pain and Suffering

25 Nov

I’ve just read this poem from by one of the 13 year olds that I work with. Wow, I wish I could write like that. She seems to have summed up some profound truths in what I probably wouldn’t do in a month of sermons.

You know, it’s in the emotional turmoil of adolescence that many people find Christ. Adults don’t feel the hormonal out-of-control environment that they did when they were younger, and as a result, I think that adults have a hard time remembering what it’s like to be helpless… dependent… out of control… weak. Yet it’s in our weakness that God reveals himself. It’s when we cannot even stand that God’s strength is found.
