‘Christian Values’ – a discussion

19 Sep

There’s a interesting discussion going on over at Dave Gorman’s blog (comedian, radio presenter) about whether so called Christian values are inherantly Christian or just good human values. The comments have managed to stay helpful rather than spiraling into argument and name calling which is encouraging. It is also good in my view to have a debate which on the whole has focussed in part on what Christians are for and not what they are against which normally happens.

So are there values that are Christian which aren’t shared generally within society? To kick things off here I guess it isn’t so much a value (or is it) but something that underpins all is Hope. Sure solid hope and knowledge that things will be renewed and restored and that we get glimpses of this. I think this kind of hope for this world is solely a Christian view but perhaps not a view of all Christians.
