Thought for the Week

Come Together

I wrote the following in my journal during a big time of change.

“I’m being pulled from place to place in my mind, from situation to situation. Time left in Winchmore Hill, with Oasis, housing situations and plans for Alderholt. The constant to and throw leaves me feeling in limbo, rootless, being tossed by the waves. I have desire for community, friendship, value and usefulness.

I came across a quote today by Mark Johnson from the sleeve notes of the ‘Playing for Change’ album which is playing as I sit in the kitchen.

“As a human race we come together for birth, we come together for death. What brings us together in between is up to us”

Wow, so short, so eloquent, so true”

Journal: Thursday 6th April 2010

What choices do you make to come together with people? We are continually told that people are becoming more insular and isolated in the UK, what can we do to buck the trend if we think community is important?
